the mythology of the homeless condition ... it needs to be staunched

i really wasn't looking to start my day off this way
but ... that's life
life in these here united states
life in the land of the free
life in the land of everybodyiscreatedequal and enduedwithcertainunalienablerights
    "that among these are
      life,
      liberty
      and the pursuit of happiness" ...

i like this country
i like the diversity in topography and geography
i can travel from sea to mountains in a relatively short time
if things aren't working out where i am i can change location and restart

but
while i like this country
i'm more and more diss'in the politricks (sp?)
in fact i been unpoliticizing my life for a long time
cause i don't trust them
cause generally they're selfish, moneylovin', bought
   and do not represent their constituency's opinions
they're liars looking to grow themselves ...
they are not servants (ministers) of the people
they serve another master
   whether or not they do so knowingly
generally speaking

aside and apart from that
i learned a long time ago that they aren't the ones at fault
   when you get to the bottom of the pot where the heat is
this world is broken ... badly
in ruin
its edges are jagged
there are holes everywhere
corruption set in a long time ago
when a player
   looking to usurp his authority
   struck a deathly blow
   and humans were the trade ...

so i don't trust politicians
somebody with lots of wealth pushes their buttons
   regardless of what colour they display
and somebody else pushes their buttons
dark powers that run this worldsystem ...
for now anyway

a day is coming
when that will change
and the Lamb of God
will overcome
finally
totally
and all those powers
   wherever they be in the universe
   whatever their colour and stripe
will be made to bow before him
read 1corinthians 15

meanwhile
we do not wait
we cannot just wait ...
we are the siblings of Messiah Jesus
we are his followers
he our master
and we are to be doing what he started
   when he initiated the kingdom of God in the earth
moving it along

growing it
heading in his direction

that does not = 'evangelization'
it = Jesuswork
it = kingdomwork
it = helping hurting people
it = putting Jesus on display through us
for we are the fragrance of messiah Jesus
we are
the fragrance
of Jesus
in this world

selah ..~

so then
when i am surfing the net and see articles on the poor
and i read the one linked below
and then i read the comments at the end of the article ...
well ... it bothers me
it really bothers me

and that's what i want to change while i'm here doing this
i want to put faces on homelessness
give them voices
i want people to hear their stories and see their faces
rather than simply hear data and see numbers
i want people to change their mind about the homeless
and recognize them as people
as souls
as hurting humans in need ...
i want to make them known on a personal level ...
they are persons

are some lazy  ?
yes
are some drunks  ?
yes
are some druggies  ?
yes
are some dropouts  ?
yes

but ...
are all lazy  ?

and no

i see college students and elderly women sleeping in cars
i see a dad and his young children eating in a homeless facility
i see a dad and his challenged teenage son eating there
i see wheelchaired people
limping people
people who walk
who travel on bicycles
   everything they own strapped on
people cradling a dog
   their support 'person'

now
who am i to judge that ? ? ? ? !
who indeed

does God judge me for my failures ?
does he mark me off for my sin ?
does he write me off for my unfaithfulness ?

does he write me up for the hurt and damage i cause others ?

forgive as God in Messiah forgives me

exhibit the grace of God in the lives of others

procalim freedom and release in Jesus' name

lift the burdens of the poor and homeless and abused and fatherless

i
am
to
do
that

that is

my responsibility
my privilege
my opportunity
my calling
my direction

i'm moving in that direction
