while i look forward in hope
to being with Dad
and my big brother ...

i look for people
people who need a bread an' 2
people who need a warm shower
people who need a change of clothes
a place to lay their heads
someone to sit next to
      and listen to the street musicians
      play their sweet tunes in the evening light
people who need a friend
a friend that cares

people who need someone
to care
about
them

not people who care about their church
or that they have 'revival' services next week
or found out you're 'backslidden'
or your marriage is in trouble
or you're pregnant ...

not people who want to use your downposition
   to move them up in the eyes of others
not people who never cared until now
   until you landed flat on your face

the real issue with those people is
they don't care about you
they care
about
themselves

they want the accolade that comes from their peers in their church
the respect they get because they turned a rebel from his ways
the cheers for snatching a lost brother out of the jaws of hell

they want their praise
now
they want to be seen
to be recognized
mister spiritual
miss holy

selah ..~

jesus on the other hand
spoke against just that
and against praying in public for recognition
against alming in public so people could see you 'tithed'
   famous modern christian lingo for funding your church 'pastor'
   or tv evagelista

he spoke out against those things ..
radical for the judaism of his day
for the wealthy and the religious jews
who walked the holywalk
tithed mint and cummin
while gypping their parents ...
sat on councils and judged their neighbours
...

jesus
walked talked ate partied sang laughed
with those judged ..
the ordinarymaninthestreet was his kind of people
not the pompous ass in the fancy robes ..
he knew 'real' and despised 'pretend'
he respected truth and the desire for truth
and diss'ed those who studied 'truth' but lived the lie
he walked a liferoad of
compassion
caring
helping
listening
feeding
healing
coming alongside ...
he lived a life of embrace

God
embracing
humanity ..

in person

while i wait anticipate and salivate
for the fulfillment of the kingdom where God lives with humanity ..

i do jesus

care
help
listen
feed
heal
come alongside ...
live a life of embrace ..
or rather
i need to be

they are humans too
and they hurt just like me when my belly is empty
   and has been empty for 2 days
they hurt like me when it's too cold to sleep
when i'm all sticky and smelly for needing a bath

they hurt
like me

isn't that why God came here
in person ? ?

isn't it just because he
compassioned
cared
helped
listened
fed
healed
came alongside ...
lives a life of embrace ?  ?  ?

if Creator God
could step out of his homeplace
step down to this place
and make it home
out of love for us .... ... .

then ... wuh ?

better than
God
